The Wancho Council attended the Tirap Basin Meeting held at Khonsa on 10 August 2024, alongside representatives from neighbouring communities and regional leaders. The gathering focused on development priorities, education, and the preservation of cultural heritage across the Tirap river basin.

Council members highlighted the need for improved road connectivity between Longding and Tirap districts, better access to higher education for students from the hills, and continued protection of traditional Wancho lands and sacred sites.

Discussions also centred on inter-community collaboration around festivals, handicrafts, and documentation of oral traditions — areas where multiple communities share common ground. The council extended warm thanks to the hosts and reaffirmed its commitment to working together with neighbouring councils.

A follow-up meeting is expected later in the year, where working groups on education, cultural preservation, and infrastructure will present concrete action plans.
